Millenials. Beard Products. And Of Course, Terrific Boots.

Your dad…or maybe your grand-dad used to read playboy. “For the articles,” he said. Yeah, Right. But, truthfully, between the glamorous pages of beautiful naked women were really good articles on politics, fashion, music, art, and etiquette. Where does a young man go now to be influenced into assembling his opinion and wardrobe in one place? Right…Instagram.

The Stag’s Den was an online men’s magazine that combined articles (blog posts by contributors), style guides, advice columns, shopping for just about everything manly: from skinny jeans to beard gel. It was intended to be a Millenial’s dream app to keep up with a topsy-turvy world.

It had a flaw, though – there was just too many chefs and too many opinions about what it should represent. There were of course political arguments about bias, but also style and music disagreements. “You want to feature Bela Fleck and the Flecktones? It’s jazz with a banjo!”

Because of that, it never really got off the ground. Still a cool idea, though, and one that could work with a smaller set of ideals and a napkin-planning brunch over Avocado Toast.
