Inspired by Science Fiction

I had a whole concept mapped out for Micah Crandall-Bear’s show at Elliott Fouts Gallery in the summer of 2017. In a phone call, we got chatting about the project and what would be a good way to promote it. Micah told me he was going to add a painted sculpture to the show, and when I saw him working on it, I immediately was inspired by 2001, A Space Odyssey, where a similarly shaped object starts the film.

I really love combining art and music together, and had already assembled a soundtrack to projects with Micah, including Telluric and Groundswell. In part of the process, I wanted to do a small video to highlight the sculpture that would define the entire show. That’s what ended up here.
