Here Is One Way To Label Yourself.

How to get ahead in the music business: stop being a musician and start being a label. I learned that later in life, unfortunately, and it’s made an impact on how I look at the music industry. Only later in my musical career, I realized that I like producing others as much (if not more) than I like producing my own records. With a label I’m able to do both.

Owning a record label is at its core just like owning any other business. One has to define their meaning, and from that meaning construct and support a message. The thing I like best, is that I get to define its message and look and feel, and also help define the look and feel of other artists, as well. It’s sort of a package deal, and everything is done in-house. As a result of the label, I’ve been able to define the brand and style of several music artists, including Anonveda, Cubicle, The Jazz Subversives, Rafeâs Kamen, Poor Majesty and several others.

My design style tends to fluctuate greatly depending on the artist. I also like to collaborate with other visual artists to achieve the look I’m trying to achieve. For the most part, that mostly includes photographers, but has been other designers, too.
