Disney’s Club Penguin

[one_half]

Club Penguin is a massively multiplayer online role playing game targeted for children between the ages of 6 and 14. It’s one of Disney’s most popular games, and currently has well over 200 million users. The game is focused on child safety, and there are a number of features in place to safeguard the security of its players. The concept of the game is that the user is a penguin who interacts with other penguins via internal social media tools, is able to purchase accessories such as clothing and furniture, and to play small competitive games against themselves and other penguins.

The game had already been developed when we came aboard. Our role was to port it from a mostly Flash based desktop game to a responsive mobile platform for iOS and Android. The game is in a constant state of construction; there are always new components being developed for game play. We led a design team to reassemble all game elements into an HTML 5 interface, while assisting in the construction of new game elements. The game is currently only supported on iPad 2 and above.
